Vitamin B5, pantothenic acid
A water-soluble vitamin, widely found in nature. Pantothenic acid in the organism is converted into pantethine, the vital Coenzyme A (CoA) component. CoA is involved in the metabolism of proteins, lipids and carbohydrates. Pantothenic acid also stimulates glucocorticoids synthesis, participates in the formation of antibodies, hemoglobin and some neurotransmitters.
In cell biology calcium pantetonate is used as CoA precursor.
