(CH3)2SO. It has no color and smell, it tastes sweet.
It is widely used as a solvent.
In biology, it is used in formulation of PCR to prevent the pairing of the original DNA chains, increasing the reaction efficiency
And also in cell biology DMSO acts as a cryoprotector. A 10% DMSO solution in nutrient media is used to protect cells during cooling and freezing in liquid nitrogen.
