HEPES acid form

HEPES buffer is widely used in cellular biotechnologies, since it is able to maintain physiological pH, despite changes in СО₂concentration in the atmosphere (unlike bicarbonate buffer). When temperature decreases, dissociation of HEPES decreases. This makes it a more effective buffer to maintain the structure and enzymes work when temperature decreases.
