Collagenase type 2
Collagenase is an enzyme that cleaves bonds between neutral amino acids (X) and glycine in the amino acid sequence Pro-X-Gly-Pro. This sequence is common in collagen. Collagenase is unique among proteases in its ability to break down collagen fibrils found in all types of connective tissue, including skin, bones, tendons and blood vessels.
The ability of collagenase to break down collagen is used in the culture of human tumour cells, mouse kidney cells, brain neurons and many other cell types, except epithelial cells. Its effect on cells is relatively gentle because it works at physiological temperature and pH, involves no mechanical action and requires no special equipment.
The product is a powder for research use in tissue dissociation into individual cells. Type 2 collagenase is specifically used to isolate cells from skin, lungs, adipose tissue and adrenal glands.
Storage at temperatures from −15°C to −20°C.
Avoid inhalation and skin contact.
This product is intended for research use.
