Penicillin–streptomycin (potassium), penicillin 50 000 U/ml and streptomycin 50 000 µg/l, 100× lyophilized, 5 mL, PanEco
Intended to prevent bacterial contamination during cell culture work. Has a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
The product contains:
Penicillin G potassium salt: 50000 U;
Streptomycin sulfate: 50000 µg.
MECHANISM OF ANTIBIOTIC ACTION: At low concentrations, streptomycin sulfate has a bacteriostatic effect. After entering the microbial cell, it binds to specific receptor proteins on the 30S ribosomal subunit, disrupting formation of the messenger RNA–30S initiation complex and causing polyribosomes to dissociate. This leads to errors in reading DNA information, production of defective proteins and, ultimately, cessation of microbial cell growth and development. Penicillin G disrupts bacterial cell wall formation by binding irreversibly to penicillin-binding proteins, causing cell death.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: To prepare a 100× solution, add 5 mL of sterile distilled water to the bottle.
WORKING CONCENTRATION: 10 mL/l of the prepared 100× solution.
SHELF LIFE: 2 years.
STORAGE AND TRANSPORT CONDITIONS: Store at room temperature. Transport by any covered means of transport.
